I need music to do things

Ever since moving out and living on my own I’ve generally always had music playing in the background of whatever I’m doing. Whether that’s mulling around the house, reading or even doing housework, there’s almost always going to be music playing from somewhere. This tends to happen more when Craig isn’t in the house as he prefers a TV show playing for background noise whereas I’d rather have the TV off.

Right now it’s kind of a pain to have music playing as I have to use Craig’s PS4 with my Spotify linked, then turn the TV on and play it through the TV speakers. It works okay, but it means as soon as I leave the living room I can’t hear the music clearly and I’m not at the stage of annoying the neighbours with huge amounts of volume and my endless Paramore playlists. Yet. We’ve both talked about getting some decent speakers for around the house, more specifically the living room and back room, which should cover the whole house if positioned correctly. Ideally we’d want something like the Panasonic Speaker System as you can buy multiple speakers and pair them up to play simultaneously around the house without having to connect them using cables, which is a bonus because I hate cables lying around.

Having something small and portable is ideal as well so if we were to choose any of the Panasonic Speakers it would be the Panasonic SC-ALL6EB-K, one of the smaller models but still offering a huge amount of volume and bass with less of the distortion.

I don’t know what it is about having music in the room that just motivates me to get things done. For instance right now Calm Before The Storm by Fall Out Boy is playing and I genuinely feel like cleaning every inch of my house because of the energy I have now. It’s weird and there’s probably some fancy scientific reason behind it but I’ll just maintain that it’s my love of music that spurs me on.

In light of this I’ve made a little playlist of songs I tend to have going in the background when I’m getting things done around the house IE the exact time I need the most motivation. House work sucks! This playlist is a little eclectic, but just go with it. Most of the songs are from my childhood of growing up on emo/punk/alternative music and if you ever fell into any of those genres then you should love it or maybe discover a few songs you’ll add to your own playlist.

Now I’m off to go clean the house. Cue turning up the music to full and jumping around with it blasting to keep me motivated. Sorry, neighbours, I promise you’ll learn to love my music eventually!
